“Soot Structure and Size Distribution by Agglomeration and Surface Growth“

Georgios Kelesidis is awarded the IBM Research Forschungspreis for his MSc Thesis on the evolution of carbon black and soot structures by means of discrete element modeling. With his computations, he provided a realistic picture of the agglomeration and surface growth of soot particles in the combustion process or as pollutants in the atmosphere. His research also received the attention of industry, leading to a grant for his PhD studies.
